GIS, Remote Sensing and Geospatial Sciences

Geographic information systems (GIS) assist in the display and manipulation of spatial data—points, lines, or areas with associated labels or data values. Remote sensing detects and monitors the physical characteristics of an area by measuring its reflected and emitted radiation at a distance (typically from satellite or aircraft). Geospatial Science focuses on using information technology to understand people, places, and processes of the earth.
