Induced Pluripotent Stem cells

Induced pluripotent stem cells, are a kind of pluripotent stem cell derived from adult somatic cells that have been genetically reprogrammed to an Embryonic Stem (ES) cell-like state through the forced expression of genes and factors vital for maintaining the defining properties of ES cells. Induced pluripotent stem cells are broadly used in Therapeutics for disease modeling, regenerative medicine, and drug discovery. The human induced pluripotent stem cells are derived from a through reprogramming of human somatic cells to a pluripotent stage through ectopic expression of specific transcription causes.

There are four types of Induced Pluripotent Stem cells:

Induced pluripotent cells

True embryonic stem cell

Stem cells made by somatic cell nuclear transfer

Stem cells from unfertilized eggs
