Rare Disease Epidemiology and Public Health: Epidemiology examines the distribution, frequency, determinants, and outcomes of diseases within populations. In rare diseases, epidemiological research helps identify affected communities, estimate disease prevalence and incidence, recognise regional differences, and understand barriers to diagnosis and care. This session focuses on population-based research, disease registries, public health surveillance, health inequalities, access to specialised services, and policies designed to improve recognition and management of rare conditions.
