The quantity of regeneration vs. Repair that occurs depends on the proliferative capacity of the cells, the integrity of the stromal framework and the duration of the wound and inflammatory response. Tissue repair is a natural process in which the primary goal is to restore the construction and function of the tissue following an injury. It is comprised of overlapping phases such as Inflammation, Migratory Phase, Proliferative Phase, and Maturation (remodeling) phase, alike to those in wound healing.
