Causes and Symptoms of Infections

Infections are caused by germs that enter the body, multiply, and cause harm or illness. The main types of germs that can cause infections are: Bacteria, Viruses and Protozoa.

Symptoms of Infections:

  • Fever (this is sometimes the only sign of an infection).
  • Chills and sweats.
  • Change in cough or a new cough.
  • Sore throat or new mouth sore.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Nasal congestion.
  • Stiff neck.
  • Burning or pain with urination.
